KAHUKU - The Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) has issued a red placard and immediately shut down Manuela Malasadas, located at 56-565 Kamehameha Highway, due to a lack of running water for handwashing.
The food establishment, operated by Manuela Malasadas Co. LLC, received the red placard on July 10, 2025, and must remain closed until DOH conducts a follow-up inspection and all violations are resolved.
During a routine inspection conducted on July 10, 2025, the DOH inspector noted the following critical violations:

The next follow-up inspection is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
The DOH Food Safety Branch protects and promotes the health of Hawaiʻi residents and visitors through education and the regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of facilities where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed or sold.
