Marion County's Freedom Public Library is temporarily closed from March 23 through April 12 as crews complete the final phase of a major expansion project designed to better serve the growing community.
The closure allows for the safe and efficient completion of construction, interior improvements, and the transition into the newly expanded space. When the library reopens, residents can expect a significantly enhanced facility with upgraded amenities, expanded programming space, and improved access to resources.
This milestone marks the final step in a project that will transform the Freedom Public Library into a more modern, flexible, and welcoming community destination.
Once complete, the Freedom Public Library will more than triple in size, expanding from 8,100 square feet to approximately 32,000 square feet. Children, teens, and adults will benefit from expanded public service areas, including:
During the closure, residents are encouraged to visit nearby Marion County Public Library System locations for continued access to library services, including books, digital resources, and programs.
The public is invited to join the grand opening celebration at 10:30 a.m. on April 13, marking the official reopening of the expanded Freedom Public Library.
