Man With 19 Outstanding Warrants Arrested Tuesday After Falling From Attic Into Neighbor's Living Room

A man wanted on 19 outstanding warrants was arrested Tuesday evening by MNPD officers assigned to the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force after he attempted to escape through an adjoining attic before he fell through the ceiling and into a neighbor's living room on Nashboro Boulevard.

Darrius Cane, 36, racked up the series of charges after he fled from a March 14th traffic stop, striking a Southeast Precinct patrol officer in the process.

Cane, who had five felony warrants out of Marshall County, was stopped by Southeast officers after the Dodge Charger Cane was driving had no tag lights nor a properly registered temporary tag. In addition, the officers discovered Cane did not possess a driver's license or vehicle registration. He then gave a false date of birth and social security number to the officers before they correctly identified him. Upon asking him to exit the Charger,

Cane did not comply and instead sped off, injuring one of the officers as he evaded.

The Charger was recovered days later. Inside officers located mushrooms, marijuana, Xanex pills, OxyContin, Adderall, cocaine, fentanyl, crystal meth, and other drug paraphernalia.

After his eventful arrest on Tuesday, Cane was additionally charged with aggravated burglary, evading arrest and vandalism. He remains jailed today on $422,000 bond.
