With up to 35 food trucks offering unique cuisine, the Springfield Rotary's 12th annual Gourmet Food Truck competition will showcase the best of the region, including its partnership with Wittenberg University, on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Veterans Park. Admission is free.
Along with MustardFest, a car show, and various family activities, guests will also be able to enjoy a livestream of Wittenberg's football game vs. Wabash on a large jumbotron from 1 to 4 p.m. Head Wittenberg Football Coach B.J. Coad will provide recorded insight on the game against the Little Giants prior to kick-off. Coad will be joined on the big screen by central Ohio residents Jacoby Newman, a wide receiver from Northeastern High School in Springfield, running back Gerald Banks from Pickerington Central High School, and defensive lineman CJ Crawford from Beavercreek High School.
Other Wittenberg activities expected during the Gourmet Food Truck competition include a pregame cheerleading performance, special Wittenberg-themed giveaways and merchandise, and yard games. Wittenberg will also host a tent and information table throughout the event, as well as support admission and alumni engagement outreach.
Attracting more than 10,000 guests each year, the competition continues to grow and thrive as Springfield's must-taste event of the summer. Wittenberg is looking for volunteers for the event, who will help ensure a welcoming Wittenberg presence and reflect the University's pride and long-standing connection with the community.
