DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force, US Park Police Arrest Fugitive Wanted in Homicide Case

WASHINGTON - Members of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, led by the United States Park Police and supported by Homeland Security Investigations and the United States Marshals Service, arrested Jose Marvin Ramos in Washington, D.C. on May 26.

Officers encountered Ramos during proactive enforcement operations in a public park. During the encounter, Ramos refused to identify himself and provided officers with false identifying information. After conducting additional investigative steps and database checks, officers positively identified Ramos and determined he was a fugitive wanted on an active homicide warrant.

The arrest highlights the effectiveness of coordinated federal law enforcement operations that combine proactive patrols, investigative expertise, and intelligence-sharing to identify and apprehend dangerous offenders.

"This arrest demonstrates that every law enforcement encounters can lead to the removal of dangerous fugitives from our communities when officers remain vigilant and work together across agencies," said U.S. Park Police Chief Scott Brecht.

The operation was conducted by the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, a federal partnership focused on enhancing public safety, improving quality of life, and targeting criminal activity throughout the nation's capital. The task force brings together federal law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend violent offenders, fugitives, and individuals who threaten the safety of residents and visitors.

This arrest is the result of strengthened federal coordination under President Donald J. Trump's Executive Order 14252, which expanded operational collaboration among federal law enforcement agencies and provided additional tools to pursue dangerous criminals and improve public safety in Washington, D.C.
