Democracy and Human Rights in the OSCE: The ODIHR Annual Report 2021

This report highlights the impact of activities carried out by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in 2021, the year that marked the Office's 30th anniversary.

As the pandemic continued, democratic institutions needed support in finding creative ways to continue their critical functions. Meanwhile our societies continue to undergo many changes, not least in how to meet the challenges of protecting human rights in the digital age.


PART 1: Democratic institutions are based on human rights and the rule of law, participatory and representative, accountable and trusted

PART 2: Civil society and the security sector are better able to advance democracy and human rights

PART 3: Societies are equal, inclusive, resilient and free of all forms of discrimination and marginalization
