Protecting the Fourth Amendment: Establishing Guardrails for Automated Surveillance

WHAT: House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Rep. David H. Rowe (R-Snyder/Union/Mifflin/Juniata); Rep. Josh Bashline (R-Clarion/Armstrong); Rep. Brenda Pugh (R-Luzerne); Rep. Jamie Walsh (R-Luzerne); and other lawmakers will host a hearing titled " Protecting the Fourth Amendment: Establishing Guardrails for Automated Surveillance" to examine automated license plate reader technology and its implications for public safety, privacy, and the Fourth Amendment.
WHO: Testifiers will include Lawrence Gerrity, legislative chairman, Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police; Jim Harper, nonresident senior fellow, American Enterprise Institute; Neal Kurk, former representative, New Hampshire House of Representatives.
WHEN: Monday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m.
