The Republic of Belarus, guided purely by humanitarian considerations, is granting 1,453 Polish trucks a 10-day postponement for unhindered departure from the country. They are trapped due to Warsaw's ill-conceived decision to close the border.
This is not just a gesture of goodwill, but an extraordinary measure demonstrating our unwavering commitment to good neighbourliness and a responsible approach to international relations.
While the Polish authorities have abandoned their entrepreneurs to their fate, we are extending a helping hand to them. We have deliberately rejected the scenario of strict enforcement of customs legislation, even though it promised significant financial dividends and corresponding losses for Polish carriers. Instead of sanctions, we are giving them a chance. Instead of pressure, we are offering dialogue.
By creating transparent and safe conditions for cross-border logistics, Belarus is acting as a stabilising factor in the region. Meanwhile, Poland's decisions continue to cause chaos, undermine market stability and harm ordinary citizens and businesses.
The contrast has become fundamental: on the one hand, common sense and humanity; on the other, political ambitions and disregard for one's own citizens.
We expect Poland to show willingness to make reasonable and balanced decisions that will contribute to the restoration of normal cross-border interaction.
After the specified period, Belarus reserves the right to apply all measures provided for by law in full.
