12/17/2025 - Community Planning Quarterly Updates

What development projects are underway in the City?

Each quarter, Community Planning and Economic Development publishes a list of major development projects underway in the City. This list includes projects who have had only a pre-application meeting all the way through the end of the project to construction close-out. The list does not include all projects currently in review or construction; it is intended to shed light on some development you may see around the City. The list includes the status at the time of list publication. Contact staff at the contact information below with questions about specific project statuses. See the December 2025 list here.

Another resource to stay informed is the "Construction in Olympia" webpage: olympiawa.gov/info/construction_in_olympia. This page has digital maps showing City and private projects underway or recently completed. Contact staff at the contact information below with questions about specific project statuses.

How can I learn about private development projects?

Whenever a private development project requires a land use permit that triggers public notices, all owners and residents of property within 300 feet of the site receive a notice in the mail with routes to get more information or submit public comment. This notice also goes out to Recognized Neighborhood Associations within 1,000 feet of the site. Wondering how to learn about projects if you didn't get a letter?

Anyone can use Olympia's Permit Portal (olympiawa.gov/permitportal) to search addresses and see if there are any permits in review, under construction, or completed for the site. If the project required a public notice, you can also click the drop-down menu for "Permit Notes" to download project documents. Using this portal does not require an account; simply click "Go" under My Portal and search for a permit using the site address or permit number. Always reach out if you're having trouble using this portal; our Permit Specialists are here to help at (360) 753-8314 or [email protected].
