On December 16, 2025 the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Lukashevich, took part in the Belarus-Africa Business Forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Republican Unitary Enterprise "National Center for Marketing and Price Study," held at the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia.
The event was attended by diplomats from around 40 embassies of African and Middle Eastern countries accredited in the Russian Federation, more than 20 of which were represented at the level of heads of diplomatic missions.
The First Deputy Head of the Belarusian foreign policy agency delivered welcoming remarks to the guests, emphasizing the notable intensification of cooperation between Belarus and African countries in recent years.
On the same day, Sergey Lukashevich held bilateral meetings with a number of ambassadors of foreign states.
In particular, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Jordan to Russia and concurrently to Belarus, Khalid Shawabka, the parties underscored their interest in holding the next round of consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, convening a meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and developing interaction in the humanitarian sphere. An intergovernmental agreement on the avoidance of double taxation was signed.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of Kenya to Russia and concurrently to Belarus, Peter Mutuku Mathuki, the positive trend toward intensified bilateral contacts was noted, and mutual interest in arranging visits at the highest and high levels was confirmed.
In the meeting with the Ambassador of Mozambique, JosпїЅ Marius Muaria Katupha, certain aspects of ensuring the African country's food security were discussed, as well as the role Belarus could play in this process, taking into account its effective experience of cooperation in this field with Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
At the meeting with the Ambassador of Uganda to Russia and concurrently to Belarus, Moses Kavaaluko Kizige, the parties reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Uganda in April of this year.
The meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov focused on cooperation within BRICS and the schedule of upcoming events of the association, including in light of the priorities of India's BRICS chairmanship in 2026.
Aspects of practical cooperation with member states and partner countries were also addressed, both in multilateral formats and on a bilateral track.
