DCAA Investigative Support Critical in $3.6 Million Fraud Settlement

Officium Global LLC and Loyal Source Government Services LLC has agreed to pay a combined total of more than $3.6 million to resolve allegations of violating the False Claims Act and the Contract Disputes Act. The settlement highlights the government's ongoing commitment to protecting programs intended for service-disabled veterans.

The case centered on fraudulent misrepresentations designed to illegally secure government contracts. Between May 2017 and June 2018, Officium Global allegedly violated the False Claims Act by falsely claiming to be a service-disabled veteran-owned small business to win several government set-aside contracts.

In a related action, Loyal Source Government Services allegedly violated the Contract Disputes Act by causing breaches of those exact contracts in connection with Officium Global's fraudulent representations.

The case was jointly investigated and prosecuted by the Army Criminal Investigation Division and the Department of Justice Middle District of Florida.

The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) played a pivotal role in the successful resolution of this litigation. DCAA's Operations Investigative Support (OIS) division was called upon to quantify the financial impact of the fraud, providing the sole damage calculations that served as the foundation for the final $3.6 million settlement amount.

This high-impact resolution was made possible through the extensive financial analysis and dedication of the OIS team: OIS auditor Vanetia Ralston, former OIS auditors Lora Blackburn, Amarillis Velez-Diaz, Oscar Hopkins, and Shelley Posner, OIS supervisory auditors Sandy Storzieri, John Montera, and Linda Bettis, and former OIS supervisory auditor Beverly Peery.
