Commissioners commend County DPW for shared services partnership supporting Lake Como

LAKE COMO, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is commending the Monmouth County Department of Public Works (DPW) for its outstanding efforts in assisting the Borough of Lake Como with snow removal in advance of the Belmar-Lake Como St. Patrick's Day Parade. This effort exemplifies the strength and value of shared services between the County and its municipalities.

"The professionalism and responsiveness of our Department of Public Works truly demonstrate what shared services are meant to be," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Monmouth County Department of Public Works and the Division of Shared Services. "This was a textbook example of the County and a municipality working together to meet a local need efficiently and effectively. Our DPW team stepped in, worked seamlessly with Lake Como crews, and delivered results that benefited the entire community."

The County has a long-standing Shared Services agreement with the Borough of Lake Como. With significant snow still on the ground as parade preparations were underway, County DPW worked alongside local crews to ensure roads and public spaces were safely cleared in time for the annual event.

Lake Como Borough Administrator Andrew Huisman praised the County's efforts in a letter to the Board of County Commissioners, writing, "Your team's professionalism, efficiency, and willingness to go above and beyond did not go unnoticed. What should have easily been a three-day undertaking for our small DPW was completed in a single night thanks to the coordinated efforts and dedication of your staff… We are truly thankful for the partnership and support of Monmouth County."

Commissioners noted that this collaboration highlights how shared services allow municipalities to stretch resources, respond quickly to challenges, and deliver results for residents.

"For us, shared services are not just agreements on paper. They are real partnerships," added Arnone. "This effort shows how County expertise and municipal coordination can come together to serve our residents in meaningful ways."
