On August 14, the California Arts Council brought its state-wide public meeting to the Downtown San Rafael Arts District, one of 24 Cultural Districts in the State. The meeting gathered CAC Council members, staff, artists, statewide community voices, and a Representative of Assemblymember Damon Connolly's 12th District Office. Marin Shakespeare Company graciously hosted this important meeting of the CAC.
After the meeting, CAC members and staff explored the Downtown San Rafael Arts District, a cultural hub anchored by lead San Rafael Arts organizations such as Art Works Downtown, the California Film Institute, Falkirk Cultural Center, Multicultural Center of Marin and Youth in Arts. City staff attended the meeting and supported the tour of Downtown San Rafael.
Following this visit, the CAC announced the California Cultural Districts Program will receive $4 million in future statewide funding. This investment secures continued support for the program and underscores California's commitment to strengthening its cultural districts.
