This Saturday, May 2, Hayward's annual Cinco de Mayo celebration-a music, dance and cultural extravaganza that residents look forward to every year-returns to the intersection of B and Main Streets.
The celebration starts at 10 a.m. with musical and dance performances, including Aztec dancers, ballet folklorico, mariachi bands and a live DJ. In addition, there will be a car show, bicycles, ped cars, arts and crafts, food and beverage vendors, and more fun for the whole family.
The free, family-friendly event is in its 41st year. It is hosted by La Alianza de Hayward and marks the day in history, May 5, 1862, on which the Mexican army defeated France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.
