Georgia DOT awards $48.8 million in February
ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 18 projects valued at approximately $48.8 million at the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in February. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on March 6, 2026.
The largest single investment resurfacing project, valued at approximately $6.5 million, proposes 14.28 miles of milling, inlay, plant mix resurfacing, and shoulder rehabilitation on State Route (SR) 53 beginning south of SR 8/SR 316 and extending west of SR 15/SR 53 in Barrow and Oconee counties. This contract and six other resurfacing projects total approximately $21.9 million and represent 45 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest construction contract, valued at approximately $10 million, proposes 11.35 miles of concrete rehabilitation on I-20/SR 402 beginning west of SR 15 and extending to SR 22 ramp westbound in Greene and Taliaferro counties. This contract and five other construction projects total approximately $21.7 million and represent 44 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest bridge rehabilitation contract, valued at approximately $3.5 million, proposes rehabilitation at various locations in Forsyth and Gwinnett counties. This is the only contract for bridge rehabilitation, and it represents 7 percent of the total funds awarded.
There are four safety contracts from the announcement totaling approximately $1.8 million which represent the remaining 4 percent of the total funds awarded. The largest project is valued at approximately $782,000 and proposes railroad signing and pavement marking upgrades at various Central of Georgia Railroad locations in Baldwin, Jasper, Morgan, Putnam, Washington, and Wilkinson counties.

The February awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1, 2025, to approximately $1.9 billion. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2026 will conclude June 30, 2026.
