I am relieved to hear that the Rochester Police officer who was shot this morning is in stable condition, and am wishing him a full and speedy recovery. This was an unprovoked and senseless attack on a police officer simply doing his job to protect our community. These brazen acts of violence against our law enforcement officers must stop.

Every day, the men and women of law enforcement step into their roles understanding that protecting our community may put them in harm's way. For that, we owe them more than just gratitude for their service and unwavering support. We owe them our commitment to hold violent offenders accountable. I stand with the Rochester Police Department and all those who put their lives on the line to keep our community safe every day.
