FRA speaks at EESC civil society week about the EU's Civil Society Strategy
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held its annual civil society week from 2 to 5 March, in Brussels and online. FRA contributed to a session on the implementation of the EU Strategy for Civil Society.
The session focused notably on the new Civil Society Platform that the Strategy proposed as a framework for structured and transparent dialogue between the Commission and civil society on issues of rights, values, rule of law and civic space. At the session, the European Commission announced the launch of the Platform.
FRA is part of the Platform's Steering Group which brings together representatives from institutions and civil society, to jointly create the Terms of Reference and membership criteria. The Commission expects to launch the call for membership over summer.
FRA provides input based on its longstanding experience with its on civil society network - the Fundamental Rights Platform - and based on insight from FRA's work on civic space.
