On February 10, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya hosted the 2026 Chinese New Year Reception and Closing Ceremony of 2025 China-Kenya Culture and Tourism Season. Chinese Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Guo Haiyan attended the event and delivered a speech. Deputy Speaker of the Kenya National Assembly Hon. Gladys Shollei, Principal Secretary for Culture, the Arts and Heritage Ms. Ummi Bashir, Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance Hon. Hassan Omar, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi Ms.Zainab Bangura, ambassadors to Kenya, representatives of Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese, and more than 600 participants from all walks of life attended.
Amb. Guo stated that the Spring Festival is a profound cultural bond and spiritual symbol of the Chinese nation, and it has increasingly become a worldwide cultural carnival as well as a shared cultural and ethical treasure of mankind. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China and Kenya are entering the new stage of building a community with a shared future for the new era. China stands ready to seize the opportunities of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Africa and the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, to deepen cooperation with Kenya and Africa, continuously providing the international community with even more "China opportunities".
During the reception, artists from China and Kenya including the Acrobatic Troupe of Gansu Province, presented a wonderful cultural performance, filling with joy and a strong festive ambiance of Chinese New Year.
