Eudora CPA Picnic

The 2025 Eudora CPA Picnic, hosted by the Eudora Central Protection Association, will be held at CPA Park from Thursday, June 12, to Saturday, June 14. The event will run each evening from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This event hosts popular local food vendors, Barbwire Barbeque, and Main Street Scoops and Sweets, as well as other food options and vendor booths. The CPA Picnic also offers live music, a Carnival, and the Main Street Market.

Here's some history about the Eudora CPA Picnic gathered by the Eudora Area Historical Society:

The Eudora Central Protective Association (CPA) Lodge #191 was first established in 1901 as an anti-horse-thief organization. Horse thievery was a big problem in small towns like Eudora in the 19th and early 20th centuries. There were very few public resources available at the time to stop horse thieves. Most small towns like Eudora had minimal law enforcement. Therefore, residents commonly took the law into their own hands and formed various anti-horse-thief organizations. Starting in the summer of 1901, the Eudora CPA Lodge organized a picnic for it's members, thus the CPA Picnic was born! The CPA Lodge still exists, but, its goal is no longer apprehending horse thieves, instead, they exist to host the CPA Picnic every summer. Even in the early 1900s, the CPA Picnic was popular, attracting thousands of visitors from around the region. Entertainment, a parade, various contests, dancing, and carnival rides were always the main attractions of the CPA Picnic.
