Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian Attends Opening Ceremony of 2026 ABAW Box Hill Chinese New Year Festival

On February 21, H.E. Xiao Qian, Chinese Ambassador to Australia, attended the opening ceremony of 2026 ABAW Box Hill Chinese New Year Festival in Melbourne. Senator the Hon. Penny Wong MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, The Hon. Angus Taylor MP, Leader of the Opposition of Australia, Hon. Jacinta Allan MP, Premier of Victoria, Ms Jess Wilson MP, Leader of Victorian Opposition, more than 20 Australian federal and Victorian members of parliament attended. Consul General Fang Xinwen was also present.

Ambassador Xiao Qian extended his best wishes for the Chinese New Year to the guests, stated that China-Australia relations have achieved fruitful results in the last year. China is willing to work with Australia to make the list of cooperation longer, make the list of differences shorter, manage differences wisely, enhance win-win cooperation, and promote steady progress and greater development of China-Australia relations in the new year. 

Guest speakers including Minister Penny Wong, Premier Jacinta Allan, highly praised the important historical contributions made by the Chinese community to Australia's economic, social and cultural development, stated that the Spring Festival have become an important part of Australia's multiculturalism and they will continue to support the Chinese community and the development of multiculturalism.
