On 10 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the newly appointed U.S. Special Envoy to Belarus, John Coale, in Washington, D.C.
"Despite all measures taken by Lithuania and international pressure, the Belarusian regime continues its hybrid attacks against Lithuania, thus threatening the security of international aviation and increasing tensions in the region, so it is particularly important to increase pressure on the regime and further tighten sanctions," Budrys said.
During the meeting, the Minister informed Coale about the ongoing violations of airspace with meteorological balloons, as well as continuous illegal migration flows, and stressed that such actions of Belarus are deliberate and hostile. Budrys thanked Coale for expressing U.S. solidarity with Lithuania in the context of Belarus' hybrid attacks.
The enabling role of Belarus in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine was also discussed.
