DOH AUTHORIZES REOPENING OF HI SHACK (772 TXS) IN HONOLULU

HONOLULU - The Hawai'i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch (FSB) authorized the reopening of HI SHACK (772 TXS) located at 2002 Kalakaua Ave. After a follow-up inspection confirmed that Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) foods were held at 41 F or below, a handwashing sink was accessible for handwashing, hot-holding temperatures were observed to be 135 F or above and the mobile unit was operating in accordance with approved plans.

HI SHACK (772 TXS) received a red placard on Aug. 11 and was immediately closed. Inspectors conducted a follow-up inspection on Aug. 19 and found all violations have been corrected.

The DOH Food Safety Branch protects and promotes the health of Hawai'i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
