University of New Mexico Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Barbara Rodriguez has announced that UNM-Valencia Chancellor Samuel Dosumu has stepped down, effective March 9.
Dr. Laura Musselwhite, dean of instruction and chief academic officer at UNM-Valencia since 2014, will serve as interim chancellor to ensure continuity of leadership and campus operations, Rodriguez said.
Dosumu will remain a tenured faculty member in the Division of Social Sciences at UNM-Valencia. He was selected as chancellor in May 2022.
Musselwhite, who is a professor of history, was previously at Georgia Highlands College, where she taught history for nearly 20 years.
In fall 2025, the UNM-Valencia campus had an enrollment of 1,390 students.
