55-Hour Closure at the Connector from Northbound State Route 99

SACRAMENTO - Caltrans work on the U.S. Highway 50 (US-50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement "Fix50" Project continues with the last 55-hour closure at the northbound State Route 99 (SR-99) connector to westbound U.S. Highway 50 (US-50) scheduled from Friday, October 25 at 10 p.m. through Monday, October 28 at 5 a.m.

Caltrans does not anticipate heavy dust or noise impacts to nearby city streets.

Suggested Detours

  • Local motorists:
    • For northbound SR-99 to westbound US-50, motorists can take eastbound US-50 to 65th Street, then exit and turn around to westbound US-50.
    • Or continue eastbound on Business 80/SR-51 to N Street, then exit and turn around to westbound Business 80/SR-51 and take the connector ramp to westbound US-50.
  • Out of area motorists on northbound SR-99 who want to get to westbound US-50, use northbound I-5 instead of northbound SR-99.

The ongoing work is part of a $483.5 million project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/Interstate 5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.
