Closures on State Route 99 and Interstate 5

Stanislaus County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct various lane and ramp closures next week on State Route 99 (SR-99) and Interstate 5 (I-5). Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 99

  • Overnight, closures of the #2 (center) and #3 (right) lanes of northbound SR-99 from Maze Boulevard to Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto for bridge work beginning Monday, December 8, through Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight full closure of the onramp to northbound SR-99 from Kansas Avenue in Modesto for bridge work beginning Sunday, December 7, through Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Interstate 5

  • Long-term, full closures of the northbound and southbound Westley Safety Roadside Rest Areas and the auxiliary lane leading to the southbound rest area exit for construction work.
    Note: This project is expected to continue through the spring of 2026.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
