BLM Announces Additional September 2026 Sale of Oil and Gas Leases in Nevada

RENO, Nev. - To meet requirements of the Working Families Tax Cut Act, the Bureau of Land Management will hold an additional oil and gas lease sale on Sept. 30, 2026, offering 14 parcels totaling 20,600.11 acres in Nevada.
The BLM's regularly scheduled third quarter oil & gas lease sale held on Sept. 16, 2026, received no bids on the 14 parcels. The Working Families Tax Cut Act requires a replacement sale be held if there are no bids received on 25% or more of the acreage offered during a previous sale.
Consistent with Executive Order 14154, "Unleashing American Energy," BLM's lease sales help meet the energy needs of our citizens and solidify the United States as a global energy leader long into the future. BLM ensures oil and gas development meets the requirements and policy goals set forth by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and other laws and policies passed by Congress.
Leasing is the first step in the process to develop federal oil and gas resources. Before development operations can begin, an operator must submit an application for permit to drill detailing development plans. The BLM reviews applications for permits to drill, posts them for public review, conducts an environmental analysis and coordinates with state partners and stakeholders.
All parcels that are included in a federal oil and gas lease sale include appropriate stipulations to protect important natural resources. Information on current and upcoming BLM leases is available through the National Fluid Lease Sale System. BLM lease sales are held online through Efficient Markets.
