MoDOT to narrow eastbound I-70 lanes between Warrenton and Foristell

WARREN COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin narrowing eastbound Interstate 70 lanes in two locations between Warrenton and Foristell as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.

Traffic impacts on eastbound I-70 will include the following:

  • Wright City to St. Charles County Line (mile marker 200.8 to 203)
    • Starting April 17 through September 2025 - Nightly right lane closures 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM
    • Non-working hours: traffic will be shifted into narrower lanes with barrier wall along the right shoulder.
  • East of Route 47 to the Wright City Rest Area (mile marker 194.2 to 197.6)
    • Starting the week of April 28 through September 2025 - Nightly right lane closures 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM
    • Non-working hours: traffic will be shifted into narrower lanes with barrier wall along right shoulder.
  • I-70 eastbound on-ramp at Wright City (Exit 200)
    • April 22 & 23 - Nightly ramp closures from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM

The Improve I-70: Warrenton to Wentzville is the second project in MoDOT's Statewide Improve I-70 Program and will add a third lane of travel in each direction to I-70 from Warrenton to Wentzville. The project includes the Improve I-70 funding and additional legislatively designated General Revenue funding. It also includes previously allocated funds in the state's program for other I-70 and I-64 projects, for a total contract of $600 million.

Missouri's FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
