Denver - Friday, August 14, 2026 - The Denver Police Department announces three arrests related to the fatal shooting that occurred on August 6, 2026, in the 4100 Block of West Custer Place.
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 11:02 p.m., Denver Police officers responded to the 4100 Block of West Custer Place on reports of shots fired at that location. When officers arrived on scene, they found a car that had collided with a parked vehicle. The driver's seat was unoccupied and officers located the victim, 19-year-old Maikel Garresquero Mavo in the passenger seat suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased on scene.
Through the extensive investigation, it appears the victim was lured to that location -- possibly related to a prior dispute with the suspect(s). When the victim and the driver of the vehicle in which he was riding arrived at the location, three suspects quickly approached the vehicle and shots were fired striking the victim. The vehicle traveled a short distance before colliding with a parked vehicle, and the driver fled on foot. Detectives are still working to identify and locate that individual, who may also have been injured. The motivation of the homicide remains under investigation.
Investigators identified 18-year-old Davidson Semeco-Acurero as the suspect who allegedly shot and killed the victim. Investigators have also arrested a 17-year-old male and 13-year-old female allegedly involved in the homicide. All three suspects are currently being held for Investigation of First Degree Murder. The Denver District Attorney's Office will make the final determination regarding charges.
The Denver Police Department is committed to sharing timely and accurate information with the public. However, please note, this press release is based on preliminary information and details are subject to change if additional evidence is collected and analyzed throughout the investigation. A suspect is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
