Boyle Leads Philadelphia Delegation Letter Calling on Whole Foods to Respect Employees’ Rights Ahead of Monday Election

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Representatives Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05), and Dwight Evans (PA-03) sent a letter to Whole Foods CEO Jason Buechel and Amazon Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos ahead of Monday's union election for Whole Foods workers at 2101 Pennsylvania Avenue. The letter urges Whole Foods to allow Monday's election to proceed without interference, following reports of obstruction by Whole Foods management.

"We cannot stress strongly enough our concern with such reports," wrote the Representatives. "As Members of Congress who support workers' rights to form a union if they choose, we ask and fully expect that Whole Foods Market will allow Monday's election to proceed without interference."

"These workers are the foundation of your business, and their desire to exercise their rights is one that should be respected, not obstructed," the Representatives continued. "We hope you will respect both the process and the outcome of Monday's election, and that you will show your workers the consideration they deserve as they make this decision for themselves."
