Nursing’s Lisa Wolf Qualifies for 2025 Veteran Fencing World Championships

Lisa Wolf, associate professor in the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing, a competitive fencer who trains and coaches at the Riverside Fencing Club in Hadley, has qualified for the 2025 Veteran Fencing World Championships.
Wolf will be a member of USA Fencing's delegation, competing in the Veteran-50 Women's Epee category, Nov. 10-20 in Manama, Bahrain. She previously competed in the 2019 Veteran World Championships, in Cairo, Egypt, and finished No. 44 in the world that season.
The Veteran Fencing World Championships are for athletes over the age of 40, with age categories sorted by decades (40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+), by weapon discipline (foil, epee and sabre) and gender.
Epee is distinguished from foil and sabre in that the valid target area is unrestricted, and it shares with foil the restriction that all touches can be scored only with the point of the weapon, whereas sabre allows for scoring with the edge of the blade.
