Crash and Fire Investigation Underway in Goose Hollow Neighborhood

Portland Fire & Rescue and Portland Police responded to a crash and fire at the Multnomah Athletic Club in the Goose Hollow Neighborhood. One person was located deceased in the vehicle, and PPB's Explosive Disposal Unit is assisting with the investigation.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:49 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a report that a vehicle had crashed through the front entrance of the Multnomah Athletic Club, located at 1849 Southwest Salmon Street, and caught fire. After the fire was controlled, one person was located deceased in the vehicle.

PPB's Explosive Disposal Unit responded after evidence of an explosive device was found in the vehicle. EDU is assisting with the investigation and assessing the scene. During the investigation, Southwest 18th Avenue is closed from Southwest Taylor Street to Southwest Madison Street, and Southwest 20th Avenue is closed from Southwest Morrison Street to Southwest Madison Street. Community members are asked to avoid the area.
