Moulton Votes ‘No’ Again On Homeland Security Appropriations Citing Continued Need for Reform, Accountability

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06) issued the following statement today regarding his vote against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reopening bill.

"Today I voted No again on the Homeland Security appropriations bill. My reasoning is straightforward: we have no obligation to give taxpayer dollars to an agency that is using your hard-earned money to enable state-sponsored violence against our own people.

"I'm also not going to fall for the Administration's excuse that starting Trump's war of choice means DHS should now be funded. That's Ayatollah-logic that wars justify terrorizing your own people. The better question is why Donald Trump thought it was a good idea to start a new war without ensuring our government was fully funded first.

"The American people want a government that doesn't murder its own people and doesn't send us to war with Iran. Until I see meaningful and immediate reform to ICE and CBP, I will be voting No on Homeland Security appropriations."
