After a two-week hiatus from its schedule, No. 10 Grand Valley returns to action taking on crosstown and conference rival Davenport as part of Laker Family Weekend festivities.
The Lakers (2-1) and Panthers (2-1) kick off at 4 p.m. on October 4 at Lubbers Stadium.
Grand Valley is looking to rebound since suffering its first loss of the season, a 17-14 road defeat to Pittsburg State on September 13.
Since then, the Lakers have turned their focus to conference play, using the break to reset and prepare, while mixing in a JV exhibition against Detroit Christian Community College on September 28.
Grand Valley has controlled the rivalry with Davenport since their first meeting in 2017, winning the seven previous matchups. Last year, the Lakers posted a 48-0 win over the Panthers.
Like Grand Valley, Davenport enters Saturday's game off a bye week, though not one that was scheduled as the Panthers' September 25 opponent, Lincoln University of California, canceled its trip to Michigan.
Grand Valley Athletics announced earlier this week that the game is sold out , and fans who did not purchase a parking pass in advance will need to park in Lot H.
