Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie Meets with NZCFS Auckland Branch Newly Elected President Leeann Wahanui-Peters

On 28 April, Consul General Chen Shijie met at the Consulate-General with Leeann Wahanui-Peters, the newly appointed President of the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand China Friendship Society (NZCFS). They exchanged views on promoting people-to-people friendship between the two countries. Vice Consul General Wang Junchao was also present.

Consul General Chen congratulated Wahanui-Peters on her new role and briefed her on the recent high-level exchanges between China and New Zealand, as well as the fruitful outcomes of practical cooperation across various fields. He commended the Auckland Branch for its active contribution to bilateral friendship and support for overall relations, and stated that the Consulate-General stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Branch,joining hands in carrying forward and promoting the spirit of Rewi Alley, and working toward an even brighter future for bilateral relations.

Wahanui-Peters expressed her appreciation for the Consulate-General's long-standing support for the Auckland Branch. She said that the Branch will stay true to its founding mission, strengthen its internal governance, and strive to tell stories of mutually beneficial cooperation and friendly exchanges between New Zealand and China, helping more New Zealanders gain a comprehensive and objective understanding of China.
