Media advisory; storm warning

Metservice has issued a weather warning which may see severe gales and heavy rain across the Auckland region.

This weather may cause power outages to Vector customers, mostly caused by trees and branches coming down over lines, especially after the long dry period we have experienced recently.

Vector crews are ready to respond and we've taken extra steps to be prepared, including cancelling upcoming work to free up crews, and bringing in extra resources in our call centre. Our crews will be stood down if conditions make it unsafe for them to work.

We recommend people charge their devices, as well as staying up-to-date with local weather warnings, as it's still not certain how bad the weather will get, or how long it will last.

If you are medically dependent on electricity, we recommend making sure your back up plan is ready if needed.
Please remember to stay well clear of any downed or low-hanging lines, treat them as live at all times, and call 111 if you see any.
