Wagging Tails Bring Smiles at Akron-Canton Airport

GREEN, OH - Traveling through Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) has never been easier, and now it is full of tail wags for travelers of all ages. Earlier this year, Akron-Canton Airport became the 100th U.S. airport to offer a therapy dog program, marking a milestone for both CAK and the community.

The C.R.E.W is a team of companions, short for Caring Rovers Endless Wags, spreading happiness and connection throughout the terminal. Each dog, Ashley, Maeve, and Poppy, is certified along with their handler through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

Many travelers have already noticed the C.R.E.W. making their way through the terminal.

"The C.R.E.W. program is all about offering meaningful interactions for our passengers," said Christian McCauley, Engagement and Brand Experience Manager. "These dogs bring smiles and warmth that truly reflect who we are as an airport."

A key part of the program's success so far is its partnership with Coastal Pet Products, Inc.

The national pet products brand based in Alliance, Ohio, designed custom collars and leashes for each dog, so they stand out as they greet and engage passengers throughout the terminal.

"We are proud to support a program that brings so much joy to the traveling public," said Rebecca Holland, Senior Marketing Manager at Coastal Pet Products. "This partnership shows how local organizations can come together to create something special for the community."

"The growth and timing of the program parallel the momentum we are seeing across the airport," said Lisa Dalpiaz, Vice President of Air Service and Business Development. "With 24 nonstop routes to favorite destinations and growing leisure travel, we are focused on making every experience as enjoyable as the destination itself."

Travelers can follow along on social media for weekly updates and watch for signage throughout the airport that indicates when the C.R.E.W. is active.

If you see the C.R.E.W. during your journey, stop and say hello, as they welcome the attention.
