BATON ROUGE, LA - July 28, 2025 - The Office of the Mayor-President is proud to announce the Back-to-School Resource Drive, a community-centered event aimed at equipping students with the tools, services, and assurance they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. The event will be held on Sunday, August 3rd, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Raising Cane's River Center Ballroom.
Recognizing that many students face barriers to learning that extend beyond the classroom, this initiative seeks to support children and families in Baton Rouge by removing common obstacles that can prevent consistent school attendance and performance. Lack of access to basic hygiene, hair care, sports physicals, and school supplies can significantly affect a student's sense of readiness and self-esteem.
Services offered at the event will include:
"We are committed to uplifting every child in Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish. Together, we'll ensure we are sending our kids back to school feeling prepared. Too often, students struggle because they lack access to proper resources. Whether it's a clean outfit or a fresh haircut, these things matter. This event is about helping to close those gaps so that every student can walk into that first day of school with dignity and confidence," said Mayor-President Edwards.
The event is free and open to all students in the City of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish. Families are encouraged to attend early to take full advantage of the available services, as supplies and appointments may be limited.
