The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is preparing a repatriation flight for Finnish citizens and permanent residents of Finland who are currently in the United Arab Emirates and need assistance in leaving the region. The repatriation flight will depart from Muscat, Oman.
The Ministry will assist Finns who wish to leave countries in the Middle East whenever possible. Airlines and travel agencies retain primary responsibility for their own customers.
As a supplementary measure, the Ministry is arranging a charter flight for those in the United Arab Emirates from Muscat, Oman, to Helsinki this coming weekend.
Finnish citizens who wish to return may purchase a seat on this self-financed flight. A preliminary survey has been sent to those who have submitted a travel notification in the United Arab Emirates.
The estimated price of the flight is approximately EUR 2,300 per passenger. The cost is significantly influenced by increased insurance prices. Additional expenses may also arise for travel required to reach Oman.
Further information on purchasing tickets and on transfers to Muscat Airport will be communicated later through the Ministry's channels, as well as directly to those who have submitted a travel notification for the United Arab Emirates.
Travellers in the region are advised to submit a travel notification and to file a new notification or update an existing one if their return date changes.
The Ministry has deployed a consular mission to the Persian Gulf region to support the counselling and assistance of Finnish nationals on the ground, initially in the United Arab Emirates.
The aim is to strengthen the Ministry's presence in the region and to ensure that Finnish citizens receive the guidance and support they need as quickly as possible.
