North Carolina Central University School of Law has appointed Miriam Johnson '18 as interim director of the Technology Law and Policy Center. Johnson is a technology and privacy attorney, legal scholar and educator.
Since joining NCCU Law's Technology Law and Policy Center as a Technology Law Fellow in 2023, Johnson has helped expand the center's communications, programming, scholarship and community engagement. Her work has included producing the center's newsletters and annual reports and leading initiatives such as AI & the Community and AI & the Aging Community.
Johnson also teaches Video Game Law as an adjunct professor and conducts research on child and youth privacy, artificial intelligence governance and emerging technology regulation. Her broader leadership includes serving as vice president of the Fayetteville Street Planning Group, where she has supported community engagement and grant development connected to a $1 million American Rescue Plan Act award.
As a practicing attorney working at the intersection of law and technology, Johnson brings extensive experience and perspective to the center's work and its mission to prepare students and communities to navigate rapidly evolving technological and legal landscapes.
