Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH

On 29 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed and had a discussion with Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the Ministry.

They exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation between Thailand and OIC-COMSTECH. Both sides also discussed the possibility of fostering academic linkages between Thai universities and COMSTECH, particularly through faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research and capacity-building programmes, especially in the field of halal science.

As an observer member of the OIC since 1998, Thailand has placed great importance on fostering constructive engagement with the OIC and its members in areas of shared interests. This meeting reflects the mutual commitment between Thailand and the OIC to strengthen partnership through development cooperation in science and technology.
