Rate changes proposed for UI parking permits to support facility maintenance

Wednesday, February 18, 2026

University of Iowa Parking and Transportation is seeking approval from the Iowa Board of Regents for parking permit rate increases starting July 1 to help fund necessary maintenance and improvements.

Rate increases vary by permit types and range from an increase of $1 per month to $6 per month. Some violation fee increases also are proposed to continue modernizing the university's violation structure that has become outdated.

"To keep delivering the level of service our campus expects, we need to make thoughtful updates to our rates in response to maintenance and material costs," said Debby Zumbach, associate vice president for business services and director of Parking and Transportation.

The proposed rates have the support of the UI Parking and Transportation Charter Committee.

The Board of Regents will hear the rate proposal at its Feb. 25 - 26 meeting and vote on the rates at the April 22-23 meeting.

If approved, permit holders will be notified by email later this spring with the rate information for their current permit type.
