Weekend closure of US 45 in White County begins June 5

CARBONDALE - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a culvert replacement project in White County will require a weekend closure of U.S. 45 in both directions, approximately 0.75 miles north of the Illinois 141 interchange at Gossen Road, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, June 5, weather permitting.

A posted detour utilizing Illinois 141 and Illinois 1 will guide motorists safely around the closure area.

The work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, June 8.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
