Faculty chamber music recital, Oct. 12

UAA Music faculty Dawn Lindsay, Miriam English Ward, John Lutterman and Timothy Smith will join together for an exciting afternoon of chamber music, Oct. 12.

The program includes works by Johannes Brahms and other exciting and dramatic works from the chamber music repertoire. The program will feature one of the best loved compositions from the Romantic chamber repertoire: The Piano Quartet in G minor by Johannes Brahms. This exciting work was premiered in Hamburg by Clara Schumann, and upon completion of that first performance, Schumann described the effect of the last movement which by her description "took the audience by storm." The faculty plans other works that will showcase the abilities of each individual performer. This group has a reputation for its exciting programming and October's concert will prove to be no exception to those expectations. Students and employees are invited to come and hear these dynamic faculty leaders of the UAA String Program, joined by UAA's virtuoso pianist Timothy Smith.
