The G7 Rapid Response Mechanism supports a new common framework for analysing foreign information interference

The G7 Rapid Response Mechanism (G7 RRM) has developed and shared a new common framework for open-source research and analysis, known as the Information Manipulation Set (IMS), with the aim of strengthening cooperation among G7 democracies in addressing the threat of foreign information manipulation.

The IMS identifies a set of behaviours, tools and tactics attributable to a single malicious actor or group of actors, even where their identity cannot be immediately established. It introduces a three-level methodology - tactical, operational and strategic - enabling a shift from the observation of manipulative content to a more structured analytical understanding of hostile actor behaviour.

For Italy, which participates in the G7 RRM alongside other G7 members and Associate Members, the framework represents a valuable tool to strengthen democratic resilience, enhance collective response capabilities and further consolidate cooperation with international partners and allies.
