A meeting was held in Moscow between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), and Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed Bahrain's preparations for participation in SPIEF 2025, which the Kingdom of Bahrain will attend as the guest country.

Ambassador Ahmed Al Saati stated that preparations are being personally overseen by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

The Russian side noted that Bahrain's participation in the Forum opens additional opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation, expanding investment ties, and advancing key sectoral initiatives.

"The Forum is a leading international platform that helps build lasting economic connections. Bahrain's participation at SPIEF with the special status of guest country reflects the high level of dialogue between our two nations. We are grateful to His Majesty for the attention given to the Forum and look forward to productive cooperation in St. Petersburg," Anton Kobyakov emphasized.

The two sides discussed key areas of Bahrain's participation, including a Russia-Bahrain business dialogue, a meeting of the Russian-Bahraini Business Council, and a ministerial meeting.

"It is a great honour for us to be the guest country at SPIEF in the year marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Russia. His Majesty views participation in the Forum as a strategic international objective. We hold the culture and traditions of Russia, its people, and its role in the world in the highest regard. We are committed to contributing to the development of a dialogue based on mutual trust and respect. And of course, we support Russia's right to defend its national interests," the Ambassador noted.

Bahraini companies are also expected to take part in the Day of International SME Cooperation, along with hosting a national reception and a cultural programme that will include a musical performance, a culinary presentation, and a poetry evening.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in building a strong, long-term strategic partnership. Bahrain's participation in SPIEF 2025 will mark an important step in the development of Russia-Bahrain relations and give fresh momentum to the creation of a sustainable framework for cooperation.
