Published: Dec 08, 2025

I-580 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Corridor Enhancements Project

Contra Costa County - Caltrans District 4 is advising motorists of a delay to scheduled maintenance work along Interstate 580 (I-580) between Bayview Avenue and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Toll Plaza. The start of work has been delayed for next week of December 8, 2025.

New work schedule details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

The planned work includes rolling lane closures and temporary closures of multiple on- and off-ramps in both directions of I-580. This work is part of the ongoing I-580 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Corridor Enhancements Project, which is underway through Winter 2027. A reduced speed zone will remain in effect throughout the construction corridor once work resumes.

Caltrans thanks the public for its patience and encourages motorists to stay informed, reduce speeds in work zones, and allow extra travel time.
