The Department of Public Safety and Transportation will conduct regularly scheduled testing and maintenance of Adelphi's fire life safety systems (standpipes and sprinklers) on our Garden City campus on Wednesday, November 13 and Thursday, November 14.
This testing is required by New York State and should have little or no impact on your day. During tests, the standpipes may sound an alarm for a few seconds. You can be assured that, during tests, evacuation is not necessary. In a true emergency, the alarms ring consistently, and we directly communicate the need to evacuate.
Our partners in Facilities Management have asked us to remind you that this testing sometimes results in a slight discoloration of the water in some buildings on campus. This is only a temporary condition, easily solved by running the water for a minute or two.
Thank you for your understanding and support of our community's continued safety and wellbeing.
