Stage 2 Interchange Improvements Scheduled to Begin at Routes A/B over I-70 in Warren County

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, as early as August 11, contractor crews are scheduled to begin work on Stage 2 of the bridge replacement and interchange improvement project, located at the Routes A/B and Interstate 70 interchange, near Pendleton in Warren County.

Motorists will notice work beginning on two sections of West Veterans Memorial Parkway, on the southeast side of the interchange, to tie-in the newly constructed segments from Stage 1.

During the second phase of construction, work will include:

• Continued construction on the new Routes A/B bridge
• A closure of West Veterans Memorial Parkway at Route B to facilitate tie-in work to newly completed roadway sections
• A detour will divert West Veterans Memorial Parkway traffic onto eastbound I-70 to Route MM interchange, west of Warrenton. This required closure will last up to 28 days.

"In the coming months, the interchange will become an active work zone and require various segments to close for roadway construction. We would like to remind drivers to please slow down, obey all signs and eliminate distractions while driving. The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our top priority," stated Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Jeff Niemeyer.

Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media. The $13.7M contract was awarded this earlier this year to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia, MO.
