BUENOS AIRES, September 12, 2025 - A delegation of 10 Executive Directors of the Board of the World Bank Group (WBG) visited Argentina from September 10 to 12 to learn firsthand about the country's development priorities with a focus on opportunities for sustainable mining and explore its role in the global energy transition.
The Executive Directors held meetings with government authorities, particularly with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, the President of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausili and Finance Secretary, Pablo Quirno. They also met with representatives from the private sector. Additionally, the Executive Directors traveled to the province of Jujuy, where they visited the Olaroz Salt Flat and had the opportunity to discuss the country's potential in the production of critical minerals.
The delegation included 10 Executive Directors representing 31% of the voting power. The World Bank Group has 25 Executive Directors who represent its 189 member countries. They have oversight of the WBG's operational, financial and policy matters and approval of the work program that guides the strategic direction of the WBG.
