More than 60 IPA CIS Observers to Monitor Presidential Elections in Belarus

The Central Election Commission accredited more than 60 IPA CIS observers. Among them are representatives of the parliaments of the Commonwealth countries. The group also includes staff members of the Assembly and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev has been appointed as coordinator of the group.

On the eve of the elections, the observers will hold meetings with the heads of the chambers of the Belarusian parliament, with the leadership of the election administration bodies, with candidates and their authorized representatives. On 26 January, the IPA CIS observers will visit polling stations in Minsk and all other subjects of the Republic.

The international observers from the Assembly take part in the monitoring of the presidential election at the invitation of Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko.
